Strata Building Bond Scheme Panels

The Strata Building Bond and Inspections Scheme (SBBIS) requires developers to lodge a building bond with the Secretary before applying for an occupation certificate for new apartment building work. Developers pay a percentage of the contract price, which secures funds to cover the defects rectification cost panel for any necessary rectification of defective building work. 

SBBIS is part of the broader consumer protection frameworks, similar to the Home Building Compensation Fund (HBCF). It specifically applies to residential apartment buildings three storeys and below. Notably, SBBIS does not apply when HBCF does.
